Robert Leroy Sibert, 93, passed away Oct. 19, 2021 at Hamilton Trace in Fishers, Indiana.He was born Aug. 30, 1928 in Vincennes, Indiana and was a Pendleton resident since 1962.Bob retired as an engineer from Guide Lamp Division of GM in Anderson in 1988.He was a member of Pendleton Christian Church and the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association). Bob enjoyed bowling and reading. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed cutting firewood. He was active in various volunteer projects to help others and for the betterment of his community. Bob was affectionately referred to by his neighbors as “The Mayor”. His presence and attitude will be missed by all who knew him.Bob was a US Army veteran honorably serving from 1946 to 1948.Survivors include his children, Ron (Kris) Sibert of Seymour, Randy Sibert of Carlton, Oregon, Bobbie (Francis) Sibert-Finney of Martinsville and Rebecca Young of Pendleton; grandchildren, Sam Young, Kory Gentry and Keith Sibert; great grandchildren, Jay Gentry and Kayleigh Gentry; brother, Paul David Sibert of Terre Haute; sister, Dolores L. Gibbens of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darline Jane (Wampler) Sibert whom he married Aug 28, 1949, she passed away March 11, 2008; parents, Roy C. and Emma Pearl (Vance) Sibert; sister, Rita D. Rose; and grandson Brian Sibert.Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Wilson St. Pierre Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton. Burial with military honors will follow in Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton.Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 22, 2021 and 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021 at Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions suggested to Pendleton Emergency Ambulance, PO Box 165, Pendleton, IN 46064 or Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516
