Robert Joseph “Bob” Florea

Robert “Bob” Florea Sr., 81, of Shirley, Indiana, passed suddenly, October 6, 2023, at his residence.  Bob was born on February 1, 1942 in Shirley, IN, to the late Thurman and Helen (Robison) Florea.

Bob was a veteran that proudly served in the Marine Corps from June 5, 1960-June 5, 1964.  When he returned he joined the American Legion Knightstown Post #152.  He was very involved in working for the community, at both the Shirley and Wilkinson Fire Departments (1977-1985).  He was also the town marshal for the Wilkinson Police Department (1977-1983).  Bob also worked until retiring for 20 years at Yellow as a freight truck driver.  After retirement he went on to attend Ivy Tech Community College where he obtained and Associates Degree, becoming an EMT.  Bob stayed busy after this, mowing and supervising family business ventures, his own way.

Bob is survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Donna Jane (McClarnon) Florea; son, Robert (Vicky) Florea Jr.; daughter, Edie (Douglas) Lawyer; step-children, Brenda Bishop of Hartzell, Alabama, and Jeff Perry of Carthage, Indiana; special grandchildren, Thomas (Ashley) Strasser; special friend, Roy Miller.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Florea and his parents.

Visitation will be from 10 AM to 12 PM, Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Condo & St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, 130 S. Main St., Wilkinson, IN.  The memorial service will begin at 12 PM at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Rayburn will be officiating.  Burial will be at Glen Cove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wilkinson or Shirley Fire Departments or to the Righteous Oaks Baptist Church.
