Mr. Robert H. Day

Robert H. Day, 82, of Anderson passed away November 6, 2016 at Community Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on July 6, 1934 in Anderson to the late Gilbert Eugene and Mary Elvyra (Parry) Day and was a life long Anderson resident. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1953 and retired from Kroger in 1996 after 42.5 years of service. Bob was a union steward for U.F.C.W. and was instrumental in designing ways to display produce that is still being used today. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce A. Day of Anderson; daughter, Roberta “Bobbi” Le May of Anderson; son, Ron (wife, Cynthia) Day of Anderson; daughter, Julie A. Day of Anderson; two grandchildren, Melissa (husband, Chris) Campbell of Spiceland and Christopher (wife, Stefanie) Day of West Lafayette; four great grandchildren, Makayla Campbell, Harrison Day, Austin Campbell and Bryce Campbell; and step brother, Joe Hiatt. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Eugene Day; mother, Mary Elvyra Day; step mother, Margaret Day; son-in-law, Gary Le May; sisters, Mary Jean Hilligoss, Margy Hardy and Florence Akles; brothers Johnny Day and Hank Day; and step brothers, George Hiatt, Ralph Hiatt and Tommy Hiatt. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. Dennis Zirkle officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00-1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
