Robert H. “Bob” Bahler, 89, Anderson, passed away September 10, 2015, at St. Vincents Anderson Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born August 13, 1926, in Anderson, the son of the late John and Nell (Ivory) Bahler. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic High School and served in the US Army during WWII. Bob retired in 1984 from Conrail after 37 years. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Past Grand Knight 4th Degree and the Elk’s Lodge # 209.
He is survived by one daughter, Theresa (Gary) Chambers of West Baden; five grandchildren, Jessica Chambers of West Baden, Kathy (John Anderson) Throgmorton of Anderson, Jeremy (Amanda) Chambers of Paoli, Chris Willhoite of Elwood, Charles Willhoite, Jr of Paoli and eight great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Schultz of Decatur, Isabelle (Philip) Gamble of Edmonds, WA, Patricia (Larry) Daniels of Decatur, Elizabeth Kintz of Decatur and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Ruth E. Bahler on March 20, 2015.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Monsignor Robert Sell officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites conducted by the VFW Post #266.
Friends may call from may call from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory.
