Robert E. Walsh, 93, of Anderson, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at Community Hospital of Anderson.
He was born December 14, 1922, in Elwood, the son of the late Earl and Lillian (Weidner) Walsh. He lived in Anderson most of his adult life. He served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II. On May 6, 1944 he married the former Ruby Lambertson and she survives him. He graduated from Elwood High School and G.M.I.
Robert retired from Guide Lamp as a Manufacturing Engineer Supervisor after 40 years of employment. In 1975, he discovered sailing and that became his true passion. From time spent in and around Saugatuk, MI and the Great Lakes to his retirement down in Naples, Robert was never found far from the water.
In addition to Ruby he is survived by his son, Michael D. (Kristen) Walsh of Anderson; son-in-law, Rev. David Massey of Fort Lauderdale, FL; sister Marilyn Eback of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki Massey; brother Phillip Walsh and sister-in-law, Betty Walsh.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
