Robert Carroll Teeters, 81, of Lapel, Indiana, passed away May 2, 2024, at his residence following a sudden illness.
Bob was born on November 8, 1942, in Anderson, Indiana to George Perry and Margaret Marie (Huffman) Teeters.
Bob was a 1960 graduate of Lapel High School. He earned his bachelor's degree from Purdue University. He served his country proudly in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Bob moved to Lapel in 1971 and it remained his home. He spent his childhood in Lapel and wanted his children to attend Lapel schools.
Bob retired from General Motors after 30 years of employment in Anderson and Indianapolis.
Bob was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel. His favorite past-time was bowling. His parents, at one time, owned the Lapel Bowling Alley which became his second home. He belonged to the American Bowling Congress USBC and participated in USBC tournaments since the age of 12. He earned his 65 ring and 66 plaques for being a 66-year member of USBC. Bob turned senior pro after retiring and enjoyed many pro tournaments. In 2016 he became a member of the 100,000-pin club.
Bob was an avid sports fan, especially the New York Yankees and Purdue Boilermakers, and he coached his daughters' softball teams. He enjoyed fishing and fulfilled his dream of digging and stocking a pond on his own land. He fished 7 summers with his brother in Minnesota. He also enjoyed gardening and taking walks.
Bob is survived by three children, Greg (wife, Carol) Teeters, Laurie (husband, Greg) Johnson and Stacey (husband, Matt) Boles; a sister, D'Ann (husband, Bobby) Teeters Stouffer; a brother, Donnie (wife, Pam) Teeters; six grandchildren, Jennifer (husband, Eric) Knebel, Bianka Teeters, Delaney Boles, Savannah Boles, Addison Boles and Braden Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Harper, Madilyn and Carter; and several nephews. He is also survived by the mothers of his children, Nancy Leigh, and Linda Teeters.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Teeters; parents; and a brother, Bill Teeters.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Bozell Funeral Homes, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Pastor Larry Bracken officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the funeral home.
