Rita Marie Broderick Wulle, 98, Anderson, passed away November 22, 2018, at her residence after a brief illness. She was born July 14, 1920, in Anderson, the daughter of the late William Patrick and Mary Victoria (Eckstein) Broderick. She was a lifelong Anderson resident and a 1939 graduate of St. Mary High School. On November 30, 1940 she married Lawrence Bernard “Bud” Wulle who preceded her in death on July 25, 1992. She retired in 1980 from General Motors Delco-Remy after 34 years. Rita was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, The Victoria Guild, she served on the funeral dinner committee at the church and participated in the Festival of Trees for many years. She was an avid card player, loved baking cookies, knitted, crocheted, sewed and hooked rugs. She made many items for her family and friends over the years especially crocheting baby hooded capes which she gifted to friends and family. Rita was only four years old when her mother passed away, and was then raised by her father and brothers. Having no role model for a mother, she was one of the very best mothers to her four children and a wonderful grandmother. She is survived by a son, Michael Raymond (wife, Karen) Wulle of Anderson; daughters, Patricia Jean Melson of Westfield, Mary Kay (husband, Robert) Gibson of Fortville; son-in-law, Dennis Hattabaugh of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Victoria Hattabaugh; a son-in-law, James B. Melson; her siblings, John Augustine, Paul Eckstein, A.J. “Knute” (wife, Genevieve), William Michael (wife, Mae), B.A. “Beanie” (wife, Maxine), Martin Lewis, Mary Ilene (husband, Roy). Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church with Monsignor Robert Sell, III officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus, American Cancer Society 5635 W 96th St., Indianapolis, IN 46278 or St. Mary Catholic Church.
