Richard (Wayne) Kirby, Age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home October 4, 2022. He was born in Anderson, Indiana on August 2, 1942, to the late Lawrence Ulysses and Linnie B (Girt) Kirby. Wayne leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Carol Joan Kirby, three children Mike (Lisa) Kirby, Missy Wilson (Dan) and Joani (Todd) Scott, Nine Grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother, Robert “Bud” (Dorothy) Kirby, and sister Cecelia “Caroline” (Walt) Gilroy. He also leaves behind his Boston Terrier, Bullseye, many nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends.
Wayne was proceeded in death by his Mother Linnie, and Father Ulysses, sister Nancy, brothers Paul, Art and Jim, daughter Lynn Painter, Granddaughter Kyann, Great Grandson Dylan Perkins.
Wayne retired from GM with 38 years of service. Anyone who knew Wayne, knew he was a loving husband, dad and papaw who lived for his Family! He touched many lives as a Bus Driver, and Softball Coach and he spent countless hours cheering on his family attending their many sporting events. He enjoyed Fishing, rummaging, playing Johnny Cash songs on the Guitar and even became a fan of Karaoke.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday October 22nd, 2022, for friends / family to call from 3-5 p.m. at 3551 SCR 700W Yorktown.
The family asks that in support of Wayne’s passion for helping kids within his community, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Angel Tree hosted by the Women’s’ Auxiliary at The Daleville American Legion, Post 446.
