Richard “Dick” Thomas

Richard “Dick” Earl Thomas, 89, of Shirley, passed away Friday, January 07, 2022, at his residence.

He was born on August 11, 1932, in Willow Branch, IN to the late Lucian and Dorothy (Williams) Thomas. Dick married the love of his life, Donna Kellum, on August 11, 1951, in Shirley, IN. They just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. He retired from TNT Holland Trucking after a lengthy career of driving a semi, which began in his early 20s for Dailey Oil Co. in Greenfield, IN. He loved cheering on the Indianapolis Colt and enjoyed golfing with his son and friends. Most importantly, he found great joy in his family and loved the grandchildren and great-grandchildren visiting. Dick was deeply loved by his family and his wife of 70 years, and he’ll be missed dearly.

Dick will be remembered by his wife, Donna Thomas; son, Jeff (Marsha) Thomas; daughter, Sally Miller; grandchildren, Brody Thomas, Samantha Tutrow, Bobbie Jo Winebrenner, Missy Miller, and Deanne Caudill; great-grandchildren, Keeley Thomas, Dayne Thomas, Cooper Thomas, Macey Dye, Ben Tutrow, Sofia Tutrow, Macy Winebrenner, Addy Winebrenner, Luke Mattix, Olivia Mattix, Maddie Sitton and Michael Sitton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Myron Thomas; and great-grandchild, CJ Caudill.

Per the family’s request, all services will be private. Memorial contributions in Richard’s name may be donated to the American Cancer Society.
