Richard Stanley Orcutt

Richard Stanley Orcutt passed away on October 27, 2021 due to complications from Covid-19. He was born on September 15, 1937 in Hokuchin, Korea to Frank Stanley and Elizabeth (Egolf) Orcutt, where his father worked in the mining industry. In 1941, Richard and his parents moved to Walkerton, Indiana due to the onset of World War II. Richard was raised in Walkerton alongside his two younger brothers, Phillip and Roger. Richard graduated from Walkerton Lincoln High School (’56) and graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Engineering. In 1961, he married Johnel Haverstock (later divorced). They were blessed with six children. During their marriage, they resided in Indiana, Idaho, and Utah. In 1987, Richard moved to Lake St. Louis, Missouri. There he met, and married, Judith Rydlund. Richard and Judi lived in Lake St. Louis, until 2017 when they moved to Anderson, Indiana. Richard joined the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints in 1964. He was a faithful member and enjoyed serving in many different capacities. He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon. He worked in the construction industry for most of his life, working over 20 years for Arogas, Inc. as a Project Manager, before retiring in 2016. He loved woodworking and spent countless hours in his shop creating many beautiful pieces of furniture, a canoe, and countless toys for charitable organizations. He is survived by his wife, Judi; his children, Robert (Debbie) of Cicero, IN, Reed (JoLynn) of Erda, UT, Ryan (Heather) of Lehi, UT, Richel (Torey) Olsen of Herriman, UT, Richan (Rhett) McCarthy of Riverton, UT; his stepchildren, Paul (Beth) Rydlund of Saint James, MO, Jill Rydlund-Shatto of Charlottesville, VA, Julie (Amy) Rydlund of Charlottesville, VA; his brother, Roger (Pat) Orcutt of Walkerton, IN; 26 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Lady. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Phillip; and his son, Rhett. The funeral ceremony will be on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, 200 W. 46th St., Anderson, IN 46013.
