Richard Lee Smith., 77, of Markleville, Indiana, died Friday, October 11, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Elise Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Stauffer). He is survived by his daughter Terri Hoffman (Todd) of Markleville ,his twin sons, Aaron (Megan) of Noblesville and Nathan (Wendy) of Carmel; his grandchildren :Sara Ramirez(Hugo), Taylor Russell, Ethan, and Alta Smith. Great grandchildren: Sean and Sophia Fesmire, Stepchildren: Jarrett (Suzie) and Craig (Rebekah) Helming, Step grandchildren: Nolan, Elinor, Charleigh, Declan, Isabella, Silas, Kamryn Helming, Tim Hoffman (Allysa), Jessica Hoffman (Tony Dumas), Elizabeth Hoffman ( Allen Stone) Step great grandchild: Kinleigh Dumas.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Judy Brush and Pauletta Hiatt.

Richard was born in Anderson, Indiana to James Oliver and Etta Jean Smith. He attained the highest rank of Eagle Scout in 1960. He attended Ball State University and graduated with a degree in Computer Science. He worked in the Information technology field his entire career. Richard loved Pendleton and attending school sporting events. Richard’s life revolved around his friends and family – and his love of God, books, cars , fishing, and the outdoors. He will be greatly missed by many.

A family graveside service will take place at Mooreland Cemetery officiated by The Rev. John Jameson followed by a luncheon at Christ Lutheran Church, Anderson, on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
