Richard Samuel Egly

Richard Samuel Egly, 93, Lapel, passed away Monday, August 6, 2007, at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born on July 6, 1914, in Grabill, Indiana to Albert and Anna (Stuckey) Egly.
He received a BS in chemical engineering from Purdue University in 1936, a MS in chemical engineering in from the University of Illinois and a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois in 1940.
Richard retired in 1977 from Commercial Solvents Corporation after over 40 years of employment.
He was a member of the Central Christian Church in Anderson and a former member of the Central Christian Church in Terre Haute where he was an elder emeritus. He was also a member of the American Chemical Society, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Terre Haute Elks Club, and the Lapel Lions Club
He is survived by his wife, Helen Esther (Bourke) Egly; three children, David (wife, Cindy) Egly of Lapel, Sarah (husband, Mike) Ayers of Sugar Land, TX, and Diana Egly of Mountainview, CA; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by, his parents; one daughter, Joan Egly; and a brother, Robert Egly.
Funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at Roselawn Memorial Park Chapel in Terre Haute with Rev.s Linda Mc kiernan-Allen and Rebecca Zelensky officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, and from 1:00 pm till the time of the service Thursday at Roselawn Memorial Park Chapel, 7500 North Clinton Street, Terre Haute.
