Richard Lee Hallett, 85, passed peacefully to be with Jesus on October 15, 2019. He was born on August 14, 1934 in Terre Haute to the late Lacy and Celia (Ransford) Hallett. Richard retired in 1995 from General Motors as a Mechanical Engineer after 45 years of service. He graduated from General Motors Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering, followed by a 5th year capstone thesis on turbine engine design. He was a lifetime member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and a member of the South Meridian Church of God. He liked to work on cars and collect model cars. Most importantly, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lois (Mayo) Hallett of Anderson; son, Richard Lee (Leslie) Hallett II of Carmel; daughter, Cindy (Grady) Hallett-Beaty of Alexandria; grandchildren, Luke, Benjamin, Anna; nephew, Marc Hallett; brother in-law, Dale Young and may special friends. Special recognition to Elsie Cottingham and the Eaton Ambulance Workers. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Hallett; and a niece, Marta Lee Hallett. Services will be on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson Indiana with Pastors Jerry Grubbs and Dale Landis officiating. Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to South Meridian Church of God, Chesterfield Community Church of God, or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Crusade.
