Richard (Dick) Strock, of Anderson, IN, passed away peacefully on August 24th, 2019 at the age of 84. Richard Earl Strock was born on March 15, 1935 to Earl and Clara Strock in Anderson IN, and was a lifetime resident of Anderson. After graduating from Anderson High School in 1953, Dick served in the Army, including a tour of duty in Germany. Returning home, he worked in the family business, Strock Brothers Hardware, eventually becoming co-owner along with his brother Phil, taking over from their father Earl and uncle Ira. Long-time Anderson residents remember Dick as being able to solve most any home repair problem. Dick retired from the hardware business in 1992, and then spent a number years working at the Madison County Community Justice Center. Dick and Carole were married in 1961, celebrating nearly 58 years of marriage. They loved and raised four children. Dick was known for his ability to build or fix anything, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He was quick with a joke, a laugh and always had a good story to share. Dick was a long time member of Central Christian Church, and was always willing to volunteer his time to help those in need. Dick is survived by his wife, Carole (Hurst) Strock of Anderson, IN, his four children, Bradley Strock and his wife Vicky, of Denver, NC; Jeffrey Strock of Fishers, IN, Gregory Strock and his wife Erika Cottrell of Bargersville IN; Rachel (Strock) Doba and her husband Scott of Indianapolis IN; brother Philip Strock and his partner Thomas Zeabart of McCordsville, IN; grandchildren Elliot Strock, Audrey (Strock) Lovetro, James Strock, and Atlas Strock; and many nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Earl and Clara Strock of Anderson, IN and his sister Lou Ann Taylor of Anderson IN. Visitation will be on Friday, August 30th, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Brown Butz & Diedring Funeral Home in Anderson. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Central Christian Church in Anderson on Saturday, August 31st at 11 am. A private burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org). The family would also like to express their appreciation to the caring staff at Primrose Memory Care of Anderson.
