Richard Earl Jones, 90, Fortville, passed away on August 12, 2022, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born on September 28, 1931, in Wilkinson to the late Grover and Zora (VanDyne) Jones.
Richard graduated from Wilkinson High School in 1949. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a Real Estate Developer and was involved in various other occupations throughout his career.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy “Pauline” (Rushton) Jones of Fortville; children, Brenda Ratliff of Fortville, Denise Jones of Oaklandon, Richard (Maria) Jones of Arizona; grandchildren, Tina (Brad) Kerfoot, Michael (Jessica) Howell, Tony Howell, Rachel (Orion) Vedral, Carrie Jones, Wes Jones; 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.
He married his high school sweetheart and they were lovingly devoted to each other. Family meant everything to him and he loved them dearly. Traveling on cruises, bus trips, and family vacations was a passion as well. He never met a stranger and helped many people God placed in his life. He shared his faith and love for the Lord with everyone. When God called him home, he was surrounded by family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 1:00 pm at New Life Christian Fellowship Church, 1574 IN-234, Fortville, Indiana 46040 with Pastor Tina Kerfoot officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the church.
Memorial Contributions may be made to New Life Christian Fellowship Church.
