Richard A. “Dick” Lyons, 77, of Anderson, passed away March 15, 2017 at the Alexandria Care Center. He was born January 21, 1940 in Indianapolis, the son of the late Charles Lyons and Evelette Lyons-Himes. He was a lifelong Anderson resident. He attended Anderson High School and had work for the former Emge Packing Company for 33 years retiring in 1991. He is survived by a son, Louis (Colleen) Lyons; daughters, Lori (Joe) Nicholson, Leigh Dick, Lynn (Patrick) Hill; grandchildren, Richie (Julie) Myrick, Riley Lyons, Rachel (Shane Smith) Bubenzer, Codie Hill, Cheyenne (Boni) Avila, Lydia Lyons, Sydney Lyons; great grandchildren; Lauren, Noland, Bailey, Wyatt, Anthony, Aubri, Stella; sister-in-law, Susie Simmons; special nieces, Gaynell (Mike) Mann, Janet (Roger) Marshall; and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Sherrill Lyons; two granddaughters, Brandi Lyons and Taylor Kain; brothers, William and Robert Lyons; sister, Betty Himes; step-father, William Himes; father and mother-in-law, Virlon “Buzz” and Peggy McAdams; sisters-in-law, Nila Lyons, Bonnie Lyons and Dorothy Parks; brother-in-law, Pete Parks. Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with B. Martin officiating. The committal service will be 9 a.m. Monday at East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Sunday. The family would like to thank the staff of Alexandria Care Center for their compassionate care of Richard.
