Richard Bill Clendenen

Richard Bill Clendenen, 84, Anderson, passed away Friday, December 31, 2010, at Manor Care in Anderson.
He was born on August 14, 1926, in Madison County, Indiana to Everet and Lettie (Rinker) Clendenen.
He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and was deployed in the Pacific Theater.
Bill retired from the former Warner Gear in Muncie after over 30 years of employment he then worked maintanence and construction for various businesses for 25 years. He retired again at the age of 80 due to poor health.
He was a member of Pendleton Am Vets and the Daleville Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Alberta (Mannon) Clendenen; two daughters, Janie Delph of Lapel, and Mary Kay (husband, Clive) Sarvich of Indianapolis; two granddaughters, Kristy (husband, Rick) Newcomer of Danville, and Mary Ann (husband, Brandon) Waterman of Anderson; five great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Megan Newcomer, Autsin and Delaney Waterman, and Jesse Chelli.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, John D. Murdock; three brothers, Robert, Ralph, and Pete; his step-mother, Fay Clendenen; his in-laws, Albert and Mary Mannon; and brother-in-law, Tom Mannon.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Burial will follow in Grovelawn Cemetery, Pendleton.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison County Humane Society, 2219 Crystal Street Anderson, IN 46012-1723.
