Richard Allen Mooney

Richard Allen Mooney, 49 of Anderson passed away July 25, 2018 at home after a year long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family when he went home to be with the Lord. Richard was born October 17, 1968 in Anderson to Gary and Barbara (Stevens) Mooney. He graduated from Madison Heights High School where he played football and was on the wrestling team. He was employed by Greenville Technology, Inc. Richard also worked at K-Mart, Guide Corp. and MoFab. He enjoyed kayaking, photography, walking on nature trails, going to concerts at Shadyside, watching the Colts games with his grandmother, and spending time with his great nephews. Richard is survived by his mother, Barbara; sister, Meredith Mooney (Joe Gee); grandmother, Helen Neely; nieces, Sianna (Mayes) Davidson (Shawn), and Haillie Glover (John Van Duyn); 3 great nephews, Randynn Burmeister, Klayten and Sabastion Van Duyn; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary; grandfather, Carl Neely; grandparents, Pat and Imogene Mooney; special aunt, Lenora (Mooney) Phillips; and special cousin, Wm. (Rusty) Collins. Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Chaplain John Wrightsman officiating. Visitation will be Monday 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
