Ray C. Tincher, 89, of Fishers, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.

He was born on July 17, 1935, in Bond, Kentucky to John and Zoe (Moore) Tincher.

Ray began his employment as a correctional officer at the Indiana State Reformatory in April of 1968. In 1970, he was promoted to director of a minimum security correctional institution. During his 30 years in corrections, he received 38 commendations and assisted in opening five additional correctional facilities. Upon his retirement, Indiana Governor Frank O'Bannon presented him with the "Sagamores of the Wabash" award. He later worked for the Pendleton-Times Post as a journalist.

He was a lifetime member of the Lapel American Legion Post #212. He was always involved in small-town community, helping with parades, events and other community events.

Ray is survived by three children, Don Tincher, Tina (husband, Gary) Pierson and John Tincher; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Tammy Dodson; and his wife of 35 years, Marilyn Tincher.

A celebration gathering will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Brookside Cemetery, 2900 Brookside Road, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Pastor Aaron Taylor officiating.
