Ralph Verlyn Hilligoss, 92, of Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at his residence in Anderson. He was born August 18, 1931, in Anderson, Indiana, to Everett Roy and Sylvia Jane (Haygood) Hilligoss.
He enlisted in the US Army when he was 17 and served in the Korean War. Ralph retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 33 years of employment.
He loved spending time with his family and loved to cook out with them in the summer. He had property in Orange County and enjoyed being there. He would spend his time bush-hogging and tinkering outdoors. He enjoyed watching the wildlife.
Ralph is survived by four children, Nancy (Steve) Rushton, Dennis Hilligoss, Patti Hilligoss, and Jean Hilligoss; four grandchildren, Shawna Gillenwater, Jennifer (Allen) Snyder, Ashley (Steve) Hage and Craig (Kim) Lloyd; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean (Day) Hilligoss; his parents; and three siblings, Eunice Lorraine Martin, Robert M. Hilligoss and Deloris Martin.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Bozell Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Chaplain Mark Schlechty officiating. Burial will follow at Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Indiana. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the United States Army and assisted by the Daleville American Legion Post #446.
Visitation will be from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
