Ralph C. Hobbs, 69, Lapel, passed away December 12, 2002, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville following a brief illness. He was born on August 28, 1933, in Woodway, VA to Rando and Laura (Mullins) Hobbs. He attended the Southern Heights Christian Church, Anderson and was a member of the N. R. A. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janet (Miller) Hobbs; a son, Greg (wife, Ruby) Hobbs of Paoli; his mother, Laura Hobbs of Dryden, VA; 4 brothers, Bill (wife, Lavonne) Hobbs of Lapel, Virgil Hobbs of Lapel, Charles (wife, Janie) Hobbs of Dryden, VA, and Jerry (wife, Mary) Hobbs of Dryden, VA; one sister, Glenda Hobbs of Dryden, VA; an adopted grandson, Bryan Shultz of Dallas, TX; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are very close and personal friends including Paul and Pearl Best of St. Petersburg, PA. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas L. Hobbs in 1977; his father; a brother, Gail Hobbs; and an infant sister, Lou Ann Hobbs. Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel, with Rev. Ed Wilkinson of the Southern Heights Christian Church assisted by Dr. James Harless of the Tri-County Church in Middletown officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery in Lapel. Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lapel Fire Department or the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to thank all those who have been so kind to send cards, call and pray for Ralph during his illness.
