Phyllis Laverne Maxwell, 74, Anderson, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at The Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis following a sudden illness. She was born on September 8, 1937, in Anderson, Indiana to Roy and Mildred (Carr) Wilson. She graduated from Lapel High School in 1955. Phyllis retired from Anderson University after 33 years as head cook. She attended Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel and was a member of the Helping Hands at the church. She is survived by husband, Jack Maxwell; two children, Jeff (wife, Sheila) Maxwell of Anderson and Denise Turner of Lapel; three grandchildren, Kelli (husband, Pete) Springsteen of Indianapolis, Lauren Turner of Lapel, and Morgan Turner of Lapel; three great-grandchildren, Maxwell Springsteen, Kaydon Houk, and Kynlie Turner; and a friend, Patty Jennings of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Rick Maxwell. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, July 30, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
