Phyllis J. Burke, 87, Lapel, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013, at her home. She was born on April 19, 1926, in Anderson, Indiana to Wayne and Cluster (Reeve) Kimble. She was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel; the former Lapel Order of Eastern Star; and the Lapel American War Mothers. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and she loved her grandchildren. She is survived by five sons, Larry (wife, Nancy) Bond of Middletown, Gary (wife, Teresa) Bond of Pendleton, Chris (wife, Teresa) Bond of Muncie, Kavin (wife, Sherry) Bond of Distant, PA, and Dennis (wife, Debbie) Bond of Tipton; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one sister Nancy (husband, Ronnie) Allen of Alexandria; and a brother, Jack (wife, Jeannine) Kimble of Hagerstown. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth H. Burke; three brothers, Dale, Clay, and Paul Kimble; and one sister, Shirley Alfery. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 18, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Steve Holdzkom officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
