Phyllis Canada, age 81, of Anderson, passed away peacefully with family Friday, December 23rd, 2016. She was preceded by her parents, Neal and Mabel Edwards; husband, Dick Canada; two sons Thomas and Ray Jr. Hart; and siblings, Jack Edwards, Robert Edwards and Patricia Brampton. She leaves behind her only grandson, Zac Hart, and two sisters, Louise Edwards and Connie Withers. Phyllis, born May 6th, 1935, grew up in Anderson and remained a proud Anderson Indian Alum throughout her life. She was a strong, Christian woman, putting God and family above all else. A former Baptist and current Methodist, she helped provide food for the less fortunate weekly at the 5th Street United Methodist Food Bank. She enjoyed painting, wood carving, and studying her bible. Her compassion, thoughtfulness, and unique outlook will be sorely missed – but if any woman is to make it through those pearly gates, we know she is looking down from heaven with the same smile and grace by which she lived her life. Service will be Wednesday, December 28 at 2:00 pm with a viewing at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Fifth Street United Methodist Church Food Bank, 1124 W. 5th St, Anderson, IN, 46016.
