Peggy Ann (Smith) Rogers, age 85, of Pendleton, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hosptial. She leaves behind her husband of 66 years Robert Reece Rogers. She was born at home in Pendleton to Luna E. (Elsbury) and William F. Smith on February 22, 1932.She was a graduate of Pendleton High School, Class of 1950. She attended Business School in Indianapolis. She worked as a secretary for several companies then became head secretary at Pendleton High School, Pendleton Heights High School. She retired as a legal secretary for Atty. Joseph Kilmer. She then returned to work for Pendleton Savings & Loan and also for the Pendleton Public Library. Peg was such a vivacious and social person. She enjoyed her memberships in several organizations, including Pendleton PTA, Century & a Half Club, Pendleton Historical Museum, Pendleton Garden Club, and Pendleton Quilt Guild. She was an active and associate member of Gamma Pi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa, holding several offices, both local and state. She highly enjoyed playing bridge and euchre, square dancing, flower gardening, cooking, tennis, quilting and sewing, oil painting, and many winter vacations to the Bahamas and Marco Island, Florida. She enjoyed the dear friendships of the many people she knew through her employment and busy social life.She was so proud of all of her family, and is survived by sons, Rick R. (wife, Emily) Rogers, Richard A. (wife, Cathy) Rogers, Sidney C. (wife, Jill) Rogers; grandchildren, R. Jacob (wife, Annie) Rogers, Luke (wife, Stacy) Rogers, Seth (wife, Stephanie) Rogers, Noah Rogers, Corrina (husband, Travis) Crum, Ryan (wife, Lindsey) Rogers, Cari (husband, Brandon) Pickens, Heidi (husband, Jaime) Greer, Craig (wife, Tiffany) Rogers. She also had 10 great grandchildren, David & Andrew Rogers, Caleb Crum, Emma, Carson, & Bentley Rogers, Braxton & Jase Greer, Lauren & Lana Rogers; step-grandchildren, Tyler Greer, Emma & Brie Pickens. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Smith; nephews, Ted Smith & Kirby Smith.As was her request, she will be cremated, and there will be no public services. There will soon be a Celebration of Life at a family gathering. Peggy will be buried at The Friends Cemetery, Pendleton. Donations in her name may be made to Gamma Pi Chapter of Tri Kappa Scholarship Fund, information available at their website.
