Peggy Ann Adams, 80, of Anderson, Indiana passed away on January 4, 2024 at Hooverwood Health and Living in Indianapolis. Peggy was born on April 16, 1943 in Anderson to Vernis Riley Kendall and Rosemary (Lancaster) Kendall. She attended and graduated from Wilkinson High School class of 1961.
Peggy grew up in Willow Branch, a small community in Hancock County, Indiana. She spent many days at Kendall Garage, her father’s filling station and mechanic’s shop, helping with book and inventory keeping. Peggy was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Willow Branch.
After high school, Peggy worked at Hunter Chevrolet in Anderson, Indiana and this is where she would meet the love of her life, Phil Adams. Phil and Peggy were married on June 8th, 1963.
Peggy followed her husband to Fort Bragg, North Carolina when Phil was drafted during the Vietnam War. Phil and Peggy met life long friends, Tom and Betty Lewallen during their time in Fort Bragg. For years to come Peggy would be the driving force behind the vacations that the two couples would take. Peggy had a special talent to find the most remote, beautiful and out of the way campgrounds and roads for these couples to explore.
Phil and Peggy built a home in Anderson where they would live together for the rest of their lives. Peggy went to work at the Independent Federal Credit Union in Anderson where she would work as an account specialist until retirement. Peggy was a devoted wife, nurturing mother and a kind grandmother. Peggy enjoyed tending to her garden and flower beds.
Peggy is survived by her loving daughter, Brandy Michelle (Jeremy) Wittenborn of Carmel, and three grandchildren, Derek, Nathaniel, and William Wittenborn. She is also survived by her cousins Sheri Kendall, David Kendall, Barton Kendall and Linda (Kendall) Bender.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband Leslie “Phil” Adams whom passed on July 7, 2023.
The visitation will be from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Condo and St. Pierre Funeral Home, 130 Main Street, Wilkinson, Indiana 46186.
A funeral service celebrating Peggy’s life will be held at 1:00pm following the visitation on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at McCray Cemetery.
