Paul Fort

Paul Fort, 82, Lapel, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017, at his home following an extended illness.He was born on December 11, 1934, in Hancock County to Paul O. and Trilda Marie (Pettigrew) Fort.Paul attended Fortville schools.He retired in 1997 from the I. U. O. E Local 103.Paul loved to take long rides in the country and survey the crops and barns. He enjoyed fishing, and being outdoors.He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patsy (Helterbrand); one son, John (wife, Sharon) Fort of Anderson; and two granddaughters, Sarah (husband, John) Barnes and Melissa Fort.Paul was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Paul David; and two brothers, Bill and Earl Fort.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Brookside Cemetery, 2900 Brookside Road, Lapel, Indiana with Rev. Clinton Moore officiating where burial will follow.There will be no visitation.The family would like to thank Michael Helterbrand for his gentle care of Paul during the past six months.Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon International.
