Paul Edward Lawther, 83, of Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at home following an extended illness.
He was born on April 13, 1940, in Wheeling, West Virginia. He was a graduate of Walnut Grove High School.
He retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors in Anderson. He was a reserve Madison County Sheriff Deputy for many years. He had also worked security at Community Hospital in Anderson.
He was a 50-year member, past master, and secretary of the former Lapel Masonic Lodge, now the Fellowship Masonic Lodge #681 F&AM. He enjoyed turkey hunting. He was involved with the Stony Creek Township Advisory Board where he was instrumentally involved in starting the township fire territory.
Paul is survived by his wife, Diane Lawther; two sons, Michael (wife, Donna) Lawther of Lapel and Scott Lawther of Tennessee; two granddaughters, Baylee (husband, Brian) Robertson of Lapel and Amanda (husband, Landon) Paddock of Lapel; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Joshua Joe Martin and Jeremiah Michael Martin; and his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel with Pastor Hank White officiating. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by Fellowship Masonic Lodge #681 F&AM.
