Paul E. Dent, 83, of Anderson, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Residence in Anderson following an extended illness.He was born on June 30, 1938, in Anderson to Walter Dent and Hazel (Key) Dent. He spent all but six years of his life in Madison County.Paul was a 1957 graduate of Walnut Grove High School and retired in 1990 from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 31 years of service as a Quality Control Coordinator. He furthered his education at Anderson University taking a course in the Deming Theory for Statistical process control. He taught quality control classes for Delco Remy. After retiring, Paul really enjoyed farming for 20 years.He was a member of Local 662 Union of Delco Remy. He served as president of the Madison County Coonhunters club. He was Founder and President of the Madison County Black and Tan Coonhunters Association. He was coach and President of the Alexandria Little League Association for 11 years. He was a life-time member and Co-Founder of the Indiana Mini-Rex Rabbit Association.Paul was a loving husband, father, step-father, brother, grand-father, step-grand-father, great-grandfather, step-great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend.He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Sandra (Foland) Dent; two sons, Neil (Edwinna) Dent and Paul A. (Beth) Dent of Alexandria; two daughters, Melanie Dent and Dawn Dent of Anderson; two step-daughters, Lisa (Eric) Lovvorn of Florida and Tracy (Matthew) Rush of Fishers; 8 grandchildren and 5 spouses; 10 step-grandchildren, and 5 spouses; 11 great-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren, and 2 spouses; brother, Danny (Pat) Dent of Nancy, Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana with Rev. John Pflum officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.Visitation will be from 12:00 PM 2:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
