Paul E. Backous, 75, passed away Tuesday, March 15, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born on April 12, 1940 in Richmond to the late, Donald & Virginia (Geier) Backous.
Paul loved flying and building model airplanes along with woodworking. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Paul was a loving father and grandfather, who loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia (Sorg) Backous; children, Rick (wife, Lori) Backous of Worthville, KY, Teri (husband, Kevin) Schwinn of Orion, IL, and Dan Backous of Alexandria; grandchildren, Steven (wife, Crystal) Backous, Bill (fianc�, Maddie) Backous, Kyle Schwinn, and Laura Schwinn; great granddaughter, Sophia Backous; brother, Jim Backous of Anderson; brother-in-law, Bob Haskett of Middletown; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jesse Backous; granddaughter, Summer Backous; and sister, Elaine Haskett.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, officiated by Msgr. Sell. Burial will immediately follow at Pleasant Walk Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Brown-Butz Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
