Paul Daniel Springer, 67, Lapel, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014, at Community Hospital of Anderson following an extended illness. He was born on October 12, 1946, in Millville, New Jersey to Daniel and Lillian (Bowen) Springer. He graduated from Lapel High School in 1964 and served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the U. S. Independence. Paul retired in 2004 from the former PSI in Plainfield after 25 years of employment. He was an avid bowler and skeet shooter. He loved computers, to watch movies and listen to music. His grandchildren were the pride of his life. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marsha (Huffman) Springer; two children, Keith Allen (wife, Melissa) Springer and Brian Brinker both of Lapel; five grandchildren, Travis Gentry, Mitchell Brinker, Brittany Stewart, and Tyler and Devin Springer; two brothers, Bruce (wife, Tonya) and Mark Springer; his brother-in-law, Kenny (wife, Asenith) Huffman; several nieces and nephews; very close friends, Patty and Gary McCastle and Becky Plumlee; and his loyal dog, Beasley. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Rodney, Jerry, and Bill Springer. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Chris Kellermyer officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans.
