Patricia “Pat” Reason, 90, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017, in New Castle. She was a former resident of Shirley, having moved there in 1946. She was born December 12, 1926, in London, England to the late Edwin & Winifred (Gordge) Palmer. She graduated from Kilborn & Brondesbury High School for Girls in London and worked at Barclays Bank in Cricklewood. Pat married Delbert C. Reason on March 16, 1946. Together they were editors of the weekly newspaper, The Community Record, for 25 years, they also owned/operated Reason’s Photo & Gift Shop for 16 years, and the Indiana Mutual Credit Association. In 1970 she worked for Sears Roebuck in the catalog department until the store closed in 1982. She retired as the Deputy Clerk at the Shirley Town Hall. Pat was a member of the Shirley United Methodist Church where she held many positions in the United Methodist Women’s Association, was the speaker and financial secretary for the church, and taught Sunday School for over 60 years. She is survived by her sons, Terence “Terry” Reason of Wilkinson and Gaylen Reason of Greenfield; sister, Joan Margaret Crucefix; grandchildren, Meredith Chermansky, Aaron, Christopher, and Cory Reason; great grandchildren, Kyler, Caleb, & Mia Joy Reason, Ian & Lauren Chermansky. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Delbert C. Reason and granddaughter, Christina Marie Reason. Services will be conducted at Noon on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Condo & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at McCray Cemetery.
