Patricia "Pat" Darlene Jarrell, 77, Alexandria passed away on Thursday, November 24, at IU Methodist Hospital surrounded by family members following an extended illness.
She was born in Elwood on March 12, 1939 to Harold and Ruth (Shover) Retherford. Pat retired from Kroger working in the floral department and in recent years worked in the cafeteria at Frankton Elementary School.
Pat was a member of the Florida Station Church of God and attended Lone Oak Wesleyan Church for many years.
She loved to be around children, particularly at the elementary school and spending time with family. Pat was known and loved for her gentle spirit and sense of humor by all who knew her.
Pat is survived by her husband, Ronald, who she married in 1996; daughters, Lavonna Miles,, Marcella Austin Scott, Barbara (Sam) Rankin, Kelly (Ken) de la Bastide; sons Terry (Pam) Austin, Harrold Austin and Kerry Jarrell; brother, Richard (Shirley) Rutherford; daughter-in-law, Janie Jarrell; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, John Austin Sr.; sons, John Austin Jr. and Ronnie Austin; daughter, Lelia Austin Cooley; son, Kenny Jarrell.
Funeral services will take place at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 N. Main Street, Lapel with Pastor Jerry Hilligoss of the Florida Station Church of God officiating.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
