Opal L. Huffman, 87, of Anderson, received her final reward in the arms of our Heavenly Father on September 26, 2016. She was born August 4th, 1929, in South Bend, the daughter of the late Herbert and Wahneeta (Taylor) Wilson. Raised in Dunkirk, she graduated from Anderson High School. She worked all her life as a successful cosmetologist. She retired at age 62, but continued to work part time into her 80’s. Her true passion was Art. She lettered in Art at Anderson High School where she received two scholarships, one to John Herron and the other to Donald’s Beauty School. She graduated from Donald’s, eventually received a Master’s degree in Cosmetology and was a member of the Cosmetologist Association. She supported the Anderson Main Stage Theater, loved to travel, was a member of Ambassador Air, and especially loved and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, Derek Havens and Windy Rector. Her favorite saying was “I’m fat and sassy”. Opal is survived by a daughter, Tina Rector; granddaughter, Wendy (Chad) Wisnieski; great-grandchildren, Jazzmyne and Julius Wisnieski; nephews, cousins and a friend from high school, Phyllis Johns. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Derek Havens; sister, Naomi Purciful; aunt, Rosemary Jellison; and a niece, Teresa Hensley. Services will be at 1 pm. Monday, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. Phil Jellison officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
