Ollie Jo Slaven

Ollie Jo Slaven, 78 , Anderson went to be with her Lord on January 26 surrounded by her family after an extended illness. She was born May 27, 1940 in Maynardville Tennessee. Ollie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and Mamaw. Her caring heart touched many people in her lifetime. She loved working in the yard with her flowers and spending time with her family. She also warmed many hearts with her ability to cook great food. She loved caring for others. Fixing a meal or sitting with them when they were ill. When she was well, she attended church at Charity Baptist Church in Newcastle. Ollie will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends. Ollie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Clifford Slaven; her sons, Chris Slaven (wife, Cammie) of Anderson & David Slaven (fiancé, Danita Huntzinger) of Bargersville; granddaughter, Cydney Slaven; grandson, Carson Slaven; Sister, Orpha “Wendy”(husband, Bob) Patton of Anderson; brothers, Luke (wife, Betty) Flatford of Anderson, Mack (wife, Wanda) Flatford of Tennessee and Carl (wife, Kathy) Flatford of Texas; sisters-in-law, Louraine Flatford & Beulah Garrett; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry & Stella Flatford; brothers Sam B. Flatford, Conda Flatford, Wardell Flatford, Johnnie “Tom” Flatford; and sisters, Neva (Sexton) Flatford, and Pauline (Bailey) Flatford. We would like to thank all of the nurses and caregivers on the 5th floor of St. Vincent’s Anderson Hospital, Bethany Pointe and St Vincent’s Home Hospice Care for their kindness, compassion and wonderful care. Lord Jesus we pray that you welcome your daughter and lifelong believer into your waiting arms. Our much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and friend leaves this life and Heaven is richer for our loss.” Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 2, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
