Olevia Bourke Parker Cascadden, 99, Lapel, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Community Hospital of Anderson. She was born on November 10, 1915, in Columbus, Indiana to A. A. and Estella (Brown) Bourke. She graduated from Wiley High School in Terre Haute and received a BS from Indiana State Teachers College and a graduates certification in physical therapy from Harvard Medical School. Olevia worked as a biology and art teacher in Hymera High School and Lapel High School and as a physical therapist at Riley Hospital. She was also a consultant for the State of Indiana handicapped children. She worked as a physical therapist in South Dakota during the polio epidemic and also had a private practice in physical therapy. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapel; life member of the American Physical Therapy Association; the Indianapolis Museum of Art; and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. For forty years, she and her husband, Earle, lived in a log cabin on Pole Cat Ridge in Brown County. She hiked miles and miles observing the botany, zoology, and Geology of the area. She did write a few pages on what she saw. This was her kind of environment. She is survived by five nephews, Kenneth Bourke, Donald Bourke, Mike Bourke, Dwayne Bourke, and David Egly; four nieces, Nedra Zeis, Saundra Bourke, Diana Egly, and Sarah Ayers She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Kenneth Charles Parker and Earle Selkirk Cascadden; a brother, Ned Bourke, a sister, Helen Egly; a niece, Joan Egly; a nephew, Robert Bourke. A graveside will be held at 7:00 am, Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Brookside Cemetery, Lapel with Pastor Stephen Passmore officiating and burial will follow. There will be no visitation.
