Norman L. Rice

Norman L. Rice, 84, of Lapel, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family, following an extended illness.

He was born on February 18, 1939, in Central Barren, Indiana to George R. and Gayle W. (Wolfe) Rice.

Norman graduated from Madison Heights High School where he was a member of the first graduating class. He retired as a truck driver for almost 50 years.

He served his country in the United States Army where he was a member of the 101st Airborne Division.

He was a member of the Lapel American Legion Post #212 and the Lapel Eagles Aerie #4323.

Norman is survived by his children, Brett A. Rice of Poland and Brian L. (Kelly) Rice of Anderson; two sisters, Georgie Jean Elgin and Margie Sheahan; three grandchildren, Kraig (Morgan) Rice, Katee (Luke) Rice and Braxton Rice; three great-grandchildren, Jack Norman, George and Nathaniel; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 40 years, Nancy (Gray) Rice on June 6, 2004, and his parents.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 11:30am at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, 6805 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Anderson, Indiana 46013, with Rev. Gary Klinger officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the United States Army with assistance from the Lapel American Legion Post #212.
