NOBLESVILLE- Norman D. Hathcoat, 89, of Noblesville, passed away at his home on January 17, 2025.
He was born on November 11, 1935, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and moved to Indiana in 1953.
Norm was a 1953 graduate from Anderson High School and attended Ball State University.
He was an office manager for Delco Remy, Anderson for 50 years.
Sports were a very important part of Norm’s life. Besides being an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, Norm coached High School Baseball for the Pendleton Heights Arabians for 12 years. Norm was most active as a referee and official of high school sports including, basketball, baseball and football. He was a recipient of many awards and was a member of the ISHAA Basketball Hall of Fame. Unbeknownst to many, Norm was also a “movie star” having appeared in the movie “Hoosiers” as a referee in the final championship game scene.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Marjorie A. (Roach) Hathcoat whom he married August 28, 1955; children, Carol (Rick) Salvino of California, Connie Hathcoat and Ronald (Julie) Hathcoat both of Pendleton; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Polly (Jack) Gibson of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ruby (Ratliff) Hathcoat, and brothers, Bill Hathcoat and Bernard Hathcoat.
A public service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Pendleton First United Methodist Church, 225 W. State St., Pendleton.
A private graveside service will follow at Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the PHHS Athletic Department for the Baseball and/or the Basketball programs, One Arabian Drive Pendleton, IN 46064
