Nora A. Mathavich

Nora Anne Mathavich, age 68, of Anderson passed away Monday, December 13, 2021. She is survived by her sister, May Beth (Thomas) Oberting; nephews & niece, Thomas, Robert (Molly), & Keri; and great niece, Basil. She was preceded in death by her parents, John D. & Mary (Pickett) Hayes. Nora grew up in Anderson, where she graduated from Highland High School. She was an avid bowler and bowled in several leagues from the 70’s through the 90’s. She worked at Indiana Farm Bureau for 38 years in the Madison County office, where she met some of her best friends. She retired on October 1, 2019. She enjoyed the sun and loved to travel to beaches in Mexico, Florida, and Hawaii, with a margarita in hand. When she wasn’t at the beach, she enjoyed shopping and watching QVC. She loved her family and spoiled her niece and nephews, especially during the holidays. She also had a crafty side and was particularly adept at creating her own greeting cards to send out for every holiday. She was a witty woman who enjoyed a good laugh. She supported Madison County’s Victims’ Rights group and she loved Notre Dame Football. We take comfort in knowing that Nora can finally be at peace after a long and arduous, two-year battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 10-1pm Saturday, December 18 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
