Nolan (Cubbie) Edwards 83 went to be with his lord and savior on August 20th, 2020 at Saint Vincent Ascension Hospital after a brief battle with Lung Cancer and Pneumonia. Nolan was born on August 15, 1937, in Palmetto, LA.; only child of Paul and Dolly Mae Edwards who preceded him in death. Nolan resided in Anderson most of his life where he was employed as a Semi-Truck Driver for McMahan and Leib, retiring after 30 years of service. From there, he was employed with Carter Express doing the same type of work for 10 years before retiring completely. Nolan’s interests were fishing and reading books; however, he was an avid baseball fan with his heart with the Chicago Cubs. (yes, he was a die hard fan until his passing). Anyone who knew Cubbie knew if you saw him and mentioned the Cubs you were going to be in a conversation that lasted for hours. Nolan attended St. Mary’s Church on an ongoing basis where he assisted with the ringing of the church bells, announcing the beginning of the Mass and he even assisted, at times with locking up the church after mass. Nolan leaves to cherish his memory his wife (Hazel Jeanne) of 41 years; sons, Herbert L. (Monique) Johnson, Jr.; of Kokomo, Charles L. (Porscha) Johnson, Anderson, Rodney Edwards, CA. One daughter, Karla M. Johnson, Anderson; uncle, Clement (Clara) Washington, Opelousas, LA; four grandchildren and a host of cousins in Lousiana and Calfornia. We can’t forget the family pet, a Yorkie named, of course, Cubbie. The Family of Nolan Edwards wishes to thank S. Juthani, M.D. I. U. Health; Edgardo M. Flores Anticona, M.D.; Pulmonary Sleep Care Medicine; Hazim Rimawi, M.D.; the entire nursing staff; the medical staff of ICU; 3rd. and 6th-floor nursing staff; Mary Kelly, R. N.; Kelly Crandall MSW; Hospice Care; the sister (Nun) from Hospice and Center for Spiritual Care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 1:30 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1115 Pearl St, Anderson, IN 46016. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson. Due to COVID restrictions, the family asks that facemasks be worn at the funeral home and at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
