Nolan C. Lackey

Nolan C. Lackey, 94, Anderson, passed away Monday, November 10, 2008, at Community Hospital of Anderson following a brief illness.
He was born on March 12, 1914, in Madison County, Indiana to Chester Carl and Grace Victoria (Hackleman) Lackey.
He graduated from Lapel High School and also from General Motors Institute in Flint, MI.
Nolan retired in 1971 from the former Delco Remy division of General Motors in Anderson after over 34 years of employment. He then worked as a real estate agent in the Corpus Christi, Texas area for several years.
He and his wife traveled extensively throughout the United States during their retirement and they loved square dancing.
He was a life-long member of the First Methodist Church in Anderson; and an over fifty-year member of the Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625.
He is survived by two children, Janet Ruth Gordon of Houston, TX, and Barbara Ann (husband, Sherman) Adams of Oxford, MI; four grandchildren, Cliff (wife, Deb) Gordon of Corpus Christi, TX, Jennifer (husband, Mario) Adams Avila of Chicago, IL, Andrew (wife, Candi) Gordon of Houston, TX, and Nicholas (wife, Kahoru) Adams of San Francisco, CA; two great-grandchildren, Caitlin Gordon (husband, Hassan) of Houston, Texas, and Elizabeth Adams Avila of Chicago; one brother, George (wife, Betty) Lackey of Anderson; one sister, Mary Pettigrew of Anderson; two step-sisters, Sara McDonald of Florida, and Frances Schuyler of Anderson; his brother-in-law G. E. (wife, LaVera) Bubenzer; and several nieces and nephews..
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth (Bubenzer) Lackey; an infant daughter, Nancy Lackey; and a brother, Johnnie Lackey.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, November 15, 2008, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. John Cawthon officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon Saturday, November 15, 2008, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
