Nila Leticia Bilbrey

Nila Leticia Bilbrey, 71, Lapel, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family following a courageous five-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on August 16, 1941, in Lapel, Indiana to Sherman and Ruth (Crist) Helterbrand. She graduated from Lapel High School in 1970. Nila was employed for many years by the former American Medical Systems in Indianapolis. She was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church. She is survived by four children, Sherry (husband, Chuck) Davis of Lapel, Gary (wife, Lisa) Bilbrey of Sheboygan, WI, Larry (wife, Angie) Bilbrey of Columbus, OH, and Terry Bilbrey (companion, Kim Brooks) of Anderson; a foster daughter, Kirsten Miller; fifteen grandchildren, Rusty (wife, Heather) Dollar, Holly McCollum, Chandra Copeland, Melisa Bilbrey, Leticia Bilbrey, Stephanie Bilbrey, Emily LeClair, Lena Bilbrey, Mason Bilbrey, Nathan Bilbrey, Hope Bilbrey, Isaac Bilbrey, Lois Bilbrey, Josh Bilbrey, and Dalton Jarrett; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Patsy (husband, Paul) Fort of Lapel; and one brother, Richard (wife, Donna) Helterbrand of Lapel. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lena Smiley; and one brother, Donald Helterbrand. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Steve Holdzkom officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, July 29, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community North Cancer Center, 7229 Clearvista Dr, Indianapolis, IN 46256.
