Neil Howard Wolfe

Neil Howard Wolfe, 75, Lapel, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Hamilton Trace in Fishers following an extended illness. He was born on June 7, 1937, in Anderson, Indiana to Earl and Nora (Aldred) Wolfe. He graduated from Lapel High School in 1955 and received an associates degree in Chemical Technology from Ball State University in 1974. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran. Neil retired from the former Delphi division of General Motors in Anderson after 43 years of employment. He was a member of Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel; the Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625; the former Lapel Order of Eastern Star Chapter 457; the Lapel American Legion Post 212; the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, the Murat Shrine; and the Madison County Shrine Club. Neil also played the hammered dulcimer with the Daleville Saw Mill Gang. He is survived by his daughter, Sherry (Wolfe) Ritchie of Lapel; a grandson, Daine Michael Ritchie of McArthur, OH; one brother, Willis (wife, Joan) Wolfe of Anderson; two nieces, Diane (Wolfe) Mendenhall and Elaine Wolfe both of Anderson; and a son, William H. Wolfe of Vermont. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 38 years, Rosemary J. (Welker) Wolfe. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Steve Holdzkom officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel where the Lapel American Legion Post will conduct Military Graveside Rites. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. And the Lapel Masonic Lodge will conduct a Masonic Memorial Service at 6:00 pm Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Madison County Shrine Club Transportation Unit, 2419 White Street, Anderson, Indiana 46012.
