Naomi Katherine (Katie) McGlacken, 97, of Ocala Florida formerly of Lapel, passed away on January 2, 2020 of old age.
Katie was the daughter of Ray O. McClintock and Edna A. Harless McClintock Riggs and was born on July 11, 1922 on a farm near Lapel, Indiana, which was owner by her grandparents, Clark McClintock and Kate Hersberger McClintock. She was raised with her sister, Lena Wyant, Lapel, and her brothers, Fred McClintock of Fortville, and Howard McClintock, Lapel, all of whom predeceased Katie.
She was married to Max Mills, who was killed in 1945 on Iwo Jima. She later married Charles McGlacken and they celebrated 56 years together before he died. Katie is survived by her three children, Lary Max Mills and his wife, Jenny, of Pensacola, FL, Jane ann (Mills) Wohl, of Del Ray Beach, FL and Chris McGlacken, of Ocala, FL. Also surviving Katie are her eight grandsons, Gary Max Mills, MD; Mark Mills, FL; Larry Mills. Jr., Ohio; Dennis McGlacken, IN, Marty McGlacken, FL, Todd ill, Tom Hill, and Tim Hill, all of South FL, three granddaughters, Kim Ruble, Annette Powell and Michelle Boden; and twelve great grandchildren (6 boys and 6 girls) and numerous nieces and nephews. Both Katie and her sister, Lena's families produced two sets of twins.
Katie was educated in the wonderful Lapel school and learned about Jesus in the Lapel Methodist Church. One of her fond memories as a teenager, was participating in a piano concert at the coliseum in Indianapolis; she was one of 125 pianists who played on the baby grand pianos.
She moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 1969 and wore many hates - wife, mother, cosmetician, receptionist and clerk-typist for the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles for many years. In 1981, she moved to Ocala, Florida leaving behind a long-time friend, Carol Strick. Katie liked family gatherings, flowers, music, NBA basketball and sweets! She was proud of her curly blonde hair and green eyes but wished her eyes had been brown.
She sends her love to all her family and friends as well as this message, "After my ascension, I want to ride on a fluffy white could, so look for me - I'll be holding on waiving to you.
Private Family services have been taken place in Ocala, Florida and Katie was buried in Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens.
Local arrangements have been entrusted to Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home.
