Nancy Sue Banning

Nancy Sue Banning, 69, Lapel, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis following an extended illness. She was born on July 23, 1942, in Cicero, Indiana to John and Eileen (Teeters) Burris. She graduated from Lapel High School in 1960 and from the Anderson School of Practical Nursing in 1976. Sue was employed as a nurse at Community Hospital in Anderson before working for many years both in a physician's office and part-time at the former Family Tree nursing home in Anderson. She was a loving woman who devoted the majority of her time and energy to her family. Sue was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, shopping, and craft making. She attended Bethel United Methodist Church in Anderson. She is survived by three children, Cindy (husband, Jeff) Wehner of Fishers, Doug (wife, Brenda) Banning of Sheridan, and Andy (wife, Lisa) Banning of Noblesville; three grandchildren, Blake Banning, Marissa Wehner, and Zachary Banning; her mother, Eileen Burris of Fishersburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Gene Burris and Terry Burris. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, February 17, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Doug Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
