Nancy Hartman Bonge

Nancy Hartman Bonge, passed away, January 5, 2019 after a brief illness. She was born September 16, 1933 in Anderson, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Brashear) Hartman. Nancy graduated from Anderson High School, class of 1951, and attended Indiana Business College. She worked at Delco Remy, plant one; at the Ball State University physical plant; and typing at home for Ball State graduate students. But most of her life was spent tending home, husband and children. Nancy had many hobbies, including gardening, cooking, traveling, fishing and children. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jack L. Bonge whom she married while he was in the service, stationed in Wethersfield, Essex, England. They were married in a quaint little Church in Braintree, England. They lived in Colchester, England for 2 years while Jack finished his tour of duty with the Air Force, before returning to Indiana. Their marriage was one of true partnership, love, shared interests and mutual respect. Also surviving are her 3 children, Deborah (Danny Felton) Bonge, Dawn (husband, Donald) Powell, and Michael (wife, Sherry) Bonge; 5 grandchildren, Johnny (wife, Nathalia) Tremaine, Gary (Angie) Bonge, Dustin (wife, Cortney) Felton, Shannon Bonge and Michele Swallows; 6 great-grandchildren, James Peters, Prestyn Peters, Bryleigh Felton, Braydin Felton, Paris J. Swallows III and Kaydence Swallows. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Edward & Elizabeth “Betty” Hartman; sister, Judy Shelton; brother-in-law, Robert Shelton; and grandson, Derek Felton. A service to honor Nancy’s life will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, with Pastor Corinne Boruff officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
