Myron C. “Teet” Snyder

Myron C. "Teet" Snyder, 87, Lapel, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at Community Hospital of Anderson following an extended illness. He was born on May 21, 1924, in Lapel, Indiana to William and Leta (Miller) Snyder. He graduated from Lapel High School in 1942 and attended Anderson Business College. He was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Army and he served in the European Theater from 1943 to 1945. Myron retired in 1980 from the former Delco Remy division of General Motors in Anderson after 38 years as a tool and die designer. He was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel; member and past master of the Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625; Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis; and the Lapel American Legion Post 212. He had served as a scout master in Lapel for several years and had served as a member of the Lapel Town Council. In the past Myron had sung with the Lapel Jubilee Chorus. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen (Fleming) Snyder; three children, Joy (husband, John) Hough of Madison, Don (wife, Kelly) Snyder of Lapel, and Nancy (husband, Gary) Coomer of Springboro, OH; three grandsons, Chris (wife, Tracy) Snyder of Lapel, Cameron (wife, Marci) Coomer of Springboro, OH, and Clayton (wife, Allie) Coomer of Indianapolis; one granddaughter, Brittany Snyder of Lapel; five great-granddaughters, Ava Lynn and Olivia Snyder, Layla, Paisley, and Veronica Coomer; one sister, Norma Upton of Lapel; one brother, Paul (wife, Linda) Snyder of Noblesville; one sister-in-law, Cindy Snyder of Lapel; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeffery Snyder; three sisters, Margaret Blake, Becky Cupp, and Kathleen Bell; and three brothers, Charles Snyder, Donald Eugene Snyder, and William Robert Snyder. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel with Pastor Steve Holdzkom officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel where the Lapel American Legion will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, October 28, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel and the Lapel Masonic Lodge will conduct a Masonic memorial service at 6:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Ford Street United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 626, Lapel, Indiana 46051-0626, or the Honor Flight Program, c/o Lapel American Legion Post 212, 1600 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051-9671.
