Mitzi M. Menestrina

Mitzi Menestrina, 91 of Anderson, passed away, April 27, 2019 at her residence. Mitzi was born September 5, 1927, in Gurahumora, Romania the daughter of the late Karl and Juliana Tanda. Mitzi lived during World War II as a German girl in eastern Germany. Her mother Julia and brother Bruno all became refugees and eventually settled in a German refugee camp in Linz, Austria. Mitzi and her mother washed and ironed the uniforms of American soldiers for 5 years to earn enough money to come to America. She came to the Unites States in 1950, proudly became a US citizen and started a new life with her husband Harry in Anderson. Mitzi was a good wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will live in our memories forever. RIP. She is survived by her son, Larry Menestrina; granddaughters, Anastasiya (Kevin) Menestrina- Weber and Juliana Menestrina; great grandson, Eli Weber; daughter-in-law, Dawn Menestrina and her children, Tony Adkins, Benjamin Adkins, and Lacey Adkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Menestrina; son, Ronnie Menestrina; daughter-in-law, Nataliya Menestrina; and a brother, Bruno Tanda. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Saturday, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Monsignor Robert Sell III officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8p.m. Friday, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
