Mildred Coverdale, 84, Lapel, passed away Friday, September 16, 2011, at The Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness.
She was born on November 6, 1926, in Lapel, Indiana to Biff and Edna (Durant) Turner.
She graduated from Lapel High School.
Mildred retired in 1980 from Delco Remy after 30 years of employment.
She was a member the Lapel American War Mothers and had served as President of the Lapel Firefighters Auxilary
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Tom Coverdale; one son Buzz (wife, Marcia) Anderson of Anderson; three daughters, Sheila (husband, Michael) Rogers of Chesterfield, Toby (husband, Tim) Thomas of Elwood, and Jane Coverdale of Anderson; several grandchildren including Rusty Whetsel of Lapel, and Andy Anderson of Highland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Brenda Whetsel; and three brothers, Harold, Harry, and Bob Turner.
The family would like to give special thanks to Carla Cook, Mildreds caregiver for the past three years.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, September 19, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev.s Larry Crowder and William Carver officiating. Burial will follow in Bronnenberg Cemetery, Chesterfield.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, September 18, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
