Michael L. Auer

Michael L. Auer, 72, of Lapel, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Community Hospital of Anderson following a brief illness.He was born December 22, 1948, in Noblesville to Dewitt Auer and Peggy (Whitesell) Auer.Mike graduated from Lapel High School in 1967.He retired in 2003 from Guide Corporation in Anderson, after 30 years.Mike served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was also a member of the Model Train Club in Anderson for several years. He was a member of the UAW local 663. He was a loving husband, father, and papaw. He loved his dogs and turtles. Mike enjoyed gardening, playing the lottery and his model trains.He is survived by his wife Becky (Bozell) Auer of Lapel; children, Michelle (Scott) Seibert of Brookville, Katrina (John) Johnson of Lapel, Chris (Jessica) Auer of Washington, NC, Tammy (Paul) Moore of Greenfield, Sarah (Mark) Nicholson of Fountain City, and Michelle (Matt) Cunningham of Pendleton; step-mother, Kay Auer; brother, Duane (Taffy) Auer of Lapel, sister, Trudy (Brian) Baldwin of Noblesville; 23 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, and his loving dog Barkly.Mike was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Rene and Margaret Bozell.A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana with Pastor Adrian Piazza officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Lapel American Legion Post 212.Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home on Saturday.Memorial contributions may be made to American Parkinsons Association.Online condolences: www.hersbergerbozell.com
